Can we ever get a break????

August 12th, 2010 at 02:41 pm

So last night my husband's truck and my car were ransacked in our driveway. I did not have one thing in my car that I would be worried would be stolen. I never do. Howevveeerrrr....my husband does and did. The $40 that we had put away for the week for gas and tolls was in there. Then it was gone in 2 seconds. He usually locks his truck every day when he gets home from work and even checks to make sure at night but he had a migraine and went to bed early. Sooo I had to give him some money that we had put away to go towards paying the second mortgage ($300) this friday.

Then my daughter needed a new backpack for school (high). Soooo we went to the mall and bought a JanSport backpack. They are the best. She gets one every year and beats the tar out of it and they last the whole year but look pretty scary by then. If I buy cheapy ones they don't last. It was $29.99 and to afford it:

* I returned a $10 birthday present (half of the gift) I bought my friend 3 weeks ago and never saw her (I will get her another one later),

*cashed in four $3 Pinecone research checks totaling $12 and

*used a 20% off coupon at the store. So 24.99 with 20% and minus $22 for a total of $2.99 not including tax.

Then we went to Victoria's Secret and used a coupon they sent us for a free panty :-)

Funny you should mention that because on Saturday night into Sunday someone rifled through my glove compartment as well. The door was slightly open on the passenger's side (DH wasn't too shocked because with five kids it is sometimes left like that). When we got into the car for church, all the stuff (nothing good) was on the floor, someone was clearly looking for something of value. Nothing there. From here on out we are locking our doors on all cars every night.

My girls use the Jansport backpacks as well, but I purchased theirs on clearance (80% off) at Kohl's for $13 a piece. They got them in December rather than August. Keep that in mind for the next backpack.

    Welcome!

Thanks for that advice. I will be on the lookout this December.

This is not the first time someone has done this to our cars. Actually to the whole neighborhood. We have a neighborhood watch but after midnight I cannot imagine who may be up after that time to notice anyone or anything suspicious.
